Stockmann Delicatessen has opened its doors fully as the final phase of the great Kasvu -project came to completion. The floorspace of the Delicatessen store has more than doubled. The new Herkku – Delicatessen has been spread out on one level covering the area all the way from the old department store via Keskuskatu to Akateeminen Book Store, all underground. The Bistro and Café inside the Delicatessen is a specialty, the first of its kind in Finland. There is also a new Quick Bistro on the look-out balcony by the Delicatessen and the Alko Liquor Store. We can get to the Delicatessen from the brand new Keskuskatu, the pedestrian street via the escalator through the renewed Deli-department. The Delicatessen and the Alko Liquor Store cover altogether 5000 m2 of commercial area.
The final phase of the 10 year long planning and building process comprises the construction of 14 000 m2 of space under four buildings and the pedestrian street, Keskuskatu. The extension of the Electronics department as well as the refurbishment of the basement of the Argos-extension and the construction of a new staircase connecting the underground floors with the ground level were completed side by side with the Delicatessen. The lower floors have been transformed from parking area into modern personnel and maintenance facilities. The ultra modern logistics center was inaugurated in 2009. The great underground halls were hewn in the depth of 35 meters.
Our team designed the renovation and refurbishment of the underground areas and carried out the master planner's duties.
